Frequently Asked Questions
What is OT/IT convergence in industrial settings?
OT/IT convergence connects operational technology (PLCs, SCADA, DCS) with information technology (ERP, MES, cloud). It enables real-time production data to flow from the plant floor to enterprise systems for analytics, predictive maintenance, and decision support.
What cybersecurity skills are needed for industrial IT/OT?
Industrial IT/OT cybersecurity requires expertise in ICS-specific protocols (Modbus, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET), network segmentation (DMZ, Purdue model), NERC CIP or IEC 62443 standards, and tools like Claroty, Dragos, or Nozomi for OT visibility.
How do I find industrial IT contractors with OT experience?
Search Automate America for contractors with industrial IT, ICS cybersecurity, or SCADA/MES integration skills. Look for profiles that reference OPC-UA, historian platforms (OSIsoft PI, InfluxDB), or cloud IoT experience alongside plant-floor automation knowledge.
