ABB is my highest level of expertise. I have worked for ABB as well as had a hand in designing certain new controls systems which go into the newer model robots. The calibration system to be exact. No longer does the calibration require so much work or cost. I can do anything with an ABB robot and an Allen Bradley PLC.
Certfied by SICK. I can install and design all areas with warning areas to danger areas and have the systems communicate across multiple platforms.
This is the vision system I am most versed in. Certified through Cognex for full install, calibration, and both Spreadsheet and Easy View Design of images. Very well versed in lighting and outside aspects of image capture.
Absolute Expert in Kuka systems. All aspects of programming, maintenance, electrical, PM, operational, etc experience.
Certified by Rockwell Automation I am able to install all systems from the back plane to the HMI. Then can program from scratch along with all sensors required for the process. This is where I design the process for maximum efficiency as well.
Certified through Dynamic Robotic Solutions based our of Arborn Hills, Michigan I can do all aspects of this robotic system from concrete pour to sytem process debug. This was the first Robot I learned to weld on as well has part pick and place.

About Me
First, I am a follower of Jesus Christ. Without Him, I can do nothing.
I am a native of the mountains of North Carolina. In High School, I found ROTC and realized that the US Navy would be my post-graduation goal from the day I started ninth grade.
I spent two years and three months training in Charleston, SC as a Nuclear Chemist and Radiological Waste Specialist. From Charleston, SC, I went to the US Navy Submarine Fleet stationed out of Groton, CT. Assigned to the USS Augusta SSN-710. I spent three years aboard the Augusta then, due to the nature of our mission, transferred to a combat team. I led eight men through combat situations and learned quickly how to think on my feet and make decisions that truly meant life or death.
As it became time for me to either re-enlist or get out, I had become a father to a new baby girl at the time. I h chose to be a family man vice a military man. My family is second only to God in my book. Upon getting out of the Military with decorations and an Honorable Discharge with Merit, I found myself in Greer, SC working for BMW at the assembly plant located there. This is where I got into automated systems and robotics.
I met a man named Krystof Pazeck who took me under his wing and began to train me in all aspects of PLC and ABB controls. He made a statement to me one night:
"Joey, if you want to be good at this just stay here and learn this process with these systems. You will do fine. However, if you want to be the best, touch every process, every systems, and do everything you can to learn IT ALL."
Therefore, I spent the next ten years doing just that.
At General electric (GE) I took on the role of Test Supervisor. Here I implemented multiple automated security systems onto equipment as protection points in case of failures. I implemented the first ABB Robot the company was to use in the material handling of turbine blades. I also worked on very large-scale military contracts that involved new products and processes that no others had attempted before. All projects completed under budget and under time.
This is where Titan Automation is born. Although I knew I wasn’t ready to take on my own company and that I had multiple dues left to pay, I still began this portion of my life know that I would one day be ready to take this.
During the recession, I was laid off from this job due to my employee number being higher than some other personnel. Spent 2 months looking for a new position in which I took on a role at Kraft Foods in the maintenance department. This is where I started to get dirty with my training. I began my electrical path here as well. New automated systems installs on a food grade level. Bilwinco, MegaSlicer, CFS Evolution, and Ammonia systems where my expertise. After spending two years and driving seventy-four miles one-way to work, I decided it was time for a change.
I stepped out onto the water and took a position as the Senior Controls Engineer for a company twelve miles from my house: Crown Cork and Seal. The company was somewhat struggling with their processes and was in the need for a fresh pair of eyes. This is where I learned what I could handle and put myself through in the civilian world. After being on the floor for the first week and running each process personally, I started making changes. My first attack was scrap rate. The company was running a constant fifty-eight percent scrap rate on three of the five processes. After three weeks of debugging and troubleshooting systems, the scrap rate was a steady twelve percent across all three of those processes. Three months later and some personnel training the company was seeing a four percent crap rate across all five processes.
I decided to start finishing my degree at the time the contract was completed. Although the company made me a wonderful offer I chose to better myself for my family and went back to finish my undergraduate at Wofford College. Here is where I started to focus more on Titan Automation and training myself how to become the CEO a major company. The professors at Wofford are exceptionally professional and require the students to be as well. I started to carry myself differently, workout more, spend more time with God. I learned to focus on a level I had never been able to before. I took electives like business finance instead of gym or band. I learned that I only need four hours of sleep a night and that waking before all others is what ninety percent of all millionaires do as a normal routine.
I completed my undergraduate in Computer Science and ranked fourth in my class. I had a full time job, full time family, full time Church, and full time University setting for school.
Now was the time to make waves. I took a contract with Contec and installed all of their new robotic systems from the concrete pour to the process evaluation and debug. All safety, security, PLC, mechanical, electrical, and fencing systems I did not only install but I also designed. This is where I learned Solid Works and AutoCAD like the back of my hand. Contec was my first clean room experience where medical level swabs and wipes where made. We made products for NCIS, Boeing, and Microchip Companies.
These systems still run to this day with only PM schedules having been completed and maintained on them. Not one bearing, servo, or controller has been lost yet. That is no fault of mine. Contec actually listened to me and does the PM schedule perfectly and precisely.
As that contract ended, there were still other processes I had to touch to become the best. I decided that I should also start my Graduate degree and since I was going to be working close to Raleigh, NC, I decided to push for my Masters in Robotics Engineering from UNC Chapel Hill.
Since finishing my Masters, I have worked for three great companies where I did finally touch all of the processes that robots are more often than not used for which include:
Welding (Certified Welder in Mig, Tig, and Stick)
Waterjet Cutting. Sonic welding, Part Pick and Place, Mig welding, Plasma Cutting, Wood Routing, Deburring, Laser cutting, micro-chip manufacturing, and even pallet management.
ABB, Motoman, Kuka, and Fanuc Experts. All programming capabilities, which include writing from scratch and program debugging.
Routerware, SafeMove, WorldZone, as well as full systems integrations.
SICK and Keyence Certified for safety Systems. Full install from system to zone design. One hundred percent safety compliant.
Cell Design using SolidWorks and AutoCAD LT19. Including all safety alarms from audible systems to visual systems as well as fencing.

Designing systems and working on systems that are already in process has tough me both sides of troubleshooting. I will troubleshoot all of my systems using the fifty percent breakdown method. From inside the electrical cabinet to the entire mechanical system. I am very well versed in multiple tools such as a Fluke Muli-Meter, Meger, and Amp Meter. I can read systems schematics in German, Japanese, French, English, and Spanish. I am very thorough in my troubleshooting and do understand that production is necessary however; Titan's hierarchy is safety, Quality of our work, then production.
