Developed a beta correction factor for a spar/stringer stiffened skin panel configuration using Abaqus/Xfem to ease the process of analyzing complex geometry using in-house tools. Evaluated the free edge effect on beta for a stiffened panel.
Developed an optimization method for stringer's geometry using FEA tools to determine the equivalent skin width or the stiffener buckling analysis to reduce weight and cost. Established a method of calculating crippling stress of formed and extruded stringers for different materials, which reduced crippling stress testing and resulted in its optimum configuration. Analyzed the test results of lap splice test specimens using fatigue life to cognize the effects of improper installation of locking ring on the fatigue life of the blind fastener joint.
