James — SCADA Developer

I started at Trace Automation part-time, using weekend, holidays, vacation and sick pay to work here and learn about Industrial/Factory Automation. I eventually transitioned to full-time as a Field Service Technician. My typical tasks were wiring terminations to controllers, I/O modules and some field devices, I/O (loop) checks, some light commissioning and troubleshooting, drive setup, and HMI modifications. At some point I decided that SCADA and HMI systems were the thing for me, so I switched a lot of my focus to this. As this is a small company, I also assist with sales (including cold calls in person and phone/email), sales proposals, intro and techincal meetings, document preparation (NDA/Non-compete docs, employee/contractor offer letters, etc), vendor relations, and hardware procurement (to list a few).

I managed sales and technical support for the SilentAire Compressor branch at Werther International. These are small, Italian made air compressors. I was responsible for all phone and in-person sales support, all technical support, and all physical repairs at our facility. This was an excellent place to work.

I've attended numerous courses hosted by Rockwell Automation, for a variety of hardware and software products that they offer. I typically receive a certificate of completion for these.

I attended HCC's GED course and completed/received a GED certificate. I took some base courses for an associates degree, but did not complete/receive an associates degree.
