Alex — Mechanical/Robotics Engineer

Alex is a Mechanical Engineering student graduating in the spring of 2019 from Rowan University. Moving forward, he is looking for a career in robotics and systems engineering. To futher pursue this goal, he is also applying to top rated robotics masters programs in the northeast.

Alex has always been one to accept a challenge with open arms. In the school year of 2017-18, Alex was a key member of a team that designed an autonomus system that mines ice from underneath the surface of Mars. He designed the concepts for the the design and drafted them in the cad program Solid Works. Upon submitting the teams' report to NASA the team was granted $10,000 to design a prototype. During manufacturing, Alex was a subsystem leader that designed the heating elements and the mechanical system that moved them around to stay in contact with the ice as it sublimed away. During demonstration to NASA, the electrical system never got started and prevented much fo the machical system from being shown. However during initail test and modified demonstration, the mechanical system and heating elements performed as simlations predicted.

Alex has been noted by his peers to be consistently passionate and rigorous in his work.
