About Me
My career track record demonstrates a broad and in-depth knowledge of Controls Systems Engineering, including the integration of PLC’s, PAC’s, Burner Sys’s, robots, vision, HMI’s, RFID & Barcode systems, and motion control, as well as a solid understanding of Process Control & Instrumentation. My experience covers all categories, from hardware/panel design to CAD drawings, from new program creation to optimization of existing programs, from in-house start-ups to field commissioning, and from data collection to training and mentoring. I’ve demonstrated the ability to learn very quickly, doing so in such diverse industries as Automotive, Pharmaceuticals, Optical, Pulp & Paper, Food & Dairy, Wastewater treatment, Building HVAC, and Material Handling. My work and personal travel has taken me to 47 states and nearly 22 countries. I’ve always represented my clients and employers with complete professionalism in interacting with their customers.
I have advanced expertise with PLC’s such as Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, SLC’s, CompactLogic, Modicon, GE, TI, Omron, Reliance, G&L, C-H, Koyo, and moderate experience with Siemens TIA V14 software. I’ve developed HMI programs for FTView ME/SE, PanelView, Cutler-Hammer, and others, and have also written vision programs for Cognex vision systems. My robotics experience includes various exposure to ABB, Adept, Denso, Epson, Fanuc, Sankyo, and others. I also teamed up to develop a custom SCADA system for an entire manufacturing plant.
I’ve worked in R&D departments on special purpose prototype equipment as well as massive new stamping press projects for General Motors. I excel at cycle time & yield optimization of production lines, having recently been instrumental in nearly doubling an existing line’s throughput, and adding greatly improved reliability as well.
My work ethic is superb and I’ll be there when you need me. My end-user customers include BMW Motorcars of North America, Kraft Foods, General Motors, TRW, Transitions Optical, Abbot Laboratories, Mead, Eaton, BASF, US Filter, Wausau Papers, Zeppelin Systems, Electrolux, Frigidaire, Proctor & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Ford Motors, Tesla, Inc., and many others.
RECOGNITION & LICENSING – I hold a Controls Systems Engineering PE license from NY State and I also earned a Certified Automation Professional (CAP) credential from ISA, the International Society for Automation in 2010.
EDUCATION - AS degree, Electronics Technology, Madison Area Technical College, Madison, WI, Adept Technologies, Inc. – Completed advanced courses in robotics and vision systems. Rockwell Software – Completed week-long Rockwell FTBatch training and many PLC & PAC courses. Presently continuing self-training in Siemens TIA V14 software. Successfully completed Inductive Automation’s “IGNITION” SCADA software training program. Self-educated in many areas, proven to adapt to new technology, equipment, and programming applications very rapidly.
SKILLS - Programming Languages - Adept V / V+, PLC ladder logic (many brands), various text-based robot languages.
