Started my own controls company to undertake contract engineering jobs. Assignments included completion of machine vision system for GM Springhill plant and lead conveyor controls engineer for two projects at Giffin.
Controls engineer for integration of additional automation equipment into AAM powdered metal facility in Pennsylvania. Set up PLC, HMI, and Fanuc robot to transfer sintered metal parts into oven and collect pucks at the end. Set up new automated welding test cell at Mino in Auburn Hills, MI. Required initial programming and integration of PLC, weld controller, flow controls, and HMI.
Production support for electric battery line. Included PLC, Fanuc robotics, and laser welding suport.
Controls engineer for new plastic press machine and tooling for Plastikon. PLC, HMI, hardware. Service engineer for existing Frimo equipment in various customer facilities. Traveled to sustomer sites to repair and or commission existing equipment.
Production support of automated vial plasma coating lines on night shift. Included PLC, HMI, robotics, ethernet I/O in a medical cleanroom environment.
Project engineer for Stellantis chemical tank farm controls upgrade. Included new PLC and HMI software, and hardware sensors and controls. Also integration with existing plant controls architecture. Project engineer for Devicenet to Ethernet controls upgrade of packaging machine for customer in Ohio. Replaced DNet I/O and encoders with ENet, replaced obsolete VFDs with Powerflex 525. Fill-in controls engineer for Stellantis controls upgrade of phosphate system. Correected hazardous chemical loss situations and made PLC code safe and robust.
PLC and HMI programming for new robotic deburr, wash, and leak test cells at GM casting plant. Also startup and production support on site. PLC programming, HMI screens, drawing updates, and commissioning of new robotic yoke balancing cell for Dominion/JG Kern.
PLC programming for new body to paint conveyors at Stellantis truck plant. Production support and troubleshooting new seat delivery system and door conveyors for Stellantis truck plant. Production support and troubleshooting for new body shop conveyors at Stellantis Jeep plant. Conveyor electrical drawings and lockout placards for GM Factory Zero.
Lead conveyor controls engineer for two new FCA paint shops in the Detroit area. Managed subcontractors and interfaced with customer through engineering phase of projects. Also support engineer for ELPO dip tank conveyor DC coating equipment.
