Ford Laser Welding -Chief robot software engineer and integrator, as well as process developer and tester, for the first laser-welding systems deployed by Ford Motor Company in North America. This involved creating a completely new unprecedented robotic process in parallel with learning a completely new welding technology and deploying the combination successfully. - Target/Swisslog Warehouse Automation -Lead robot software developer and integrator for this project, which involved installing pallet-handling robots in several of Target's regional warehouses. These robots presented unique challenges in their operating environments, which were maintained at temperatures of either 0C or -40C. The project was deceptively simple, but the varying sizes and conditions of the wooden pallets arriving from various suppliers required a great deal of robotic flexibility without sacrificing speed. Debugging in the hostile environmental conditions exacerbated the issues. - GM Press-Linking Automation - In 2001-2003, Primary process software developer for a new series of high-speed metal-stamping press systems at General Motors' facilities in Kansas City and Oshawa, ON. At the time, these systems were the fastest robotic pressto-press operations in GM worldwide, and the software was later ported to the next-gen systems deployed in the Lordstown, OH facility. This project featured "self-tuning" for speed across the unlimited variety of shaped & sized panels the robots were carrying between presses -- the robots would automatically reduce their clearance to each press fractionally each cycle, until the best possible physical rate of production was reached, involving robots and multi-tonne presses operating in constant near-miss conditions with 100% confidence of safety. - Chrysler Vision Based Panel Unracking - The project was to utilize machine vision to reliably remove automobile body panels from various racks of dubious quality and consistency. The unique challenge to this project was to create a single, broadly deployable software architecture that would offer identical behavior (especially for unskilled operators) across a variety of rack styles and geometries, as well as varying panel sizes, shapes, and knishes. Created a new system for integration of the vision vendors' technology into industrial robots which much greater speed, ease, and reliability, which they still use to this day. - Remote Start+ -Hot wiring a damaged remote-start dongle for a vehicle to a Particle Electron GSM-enabled microcontroller. A timer and temperature sensor auto-start the engin on sufficiently cold days. The next step is to sketch together an Android app to allow a remote start without regard to distance or obstacles, possibly with an ODB dongle to provide status feedback - A320 Neo Thrust Reverser Shell - This project was the first automated production of a jet engine thrust reverser shell in the world, for the Airbus A320 NEO
