Programming Skills (1)
I have experience in detailed 3D solid modeling and basic surfacing skills. I also have experience building advanced assemblies and using mechanical and advanced mates and packaging of the entire product using Solidworks PDM.
About Me
Seeking an entry-level engineering opportunity with a focus on product design, development, and manufacturing.
I am an R & D mechanical engineer from Spectrum Brands Inc. Since March 2018, I have been a key member of the R&D team of the home appliances division at Spectrum Brands. I have worked on developing high-end blenders and coffee makers for BLACK & DECKER.
My job responsibilities include but are not limited to developing innovative concepts for upcoming products, developing those concepts with regards to brainstorming, developing CAD models on Solidworks to support the concepts and validating the models with DFM, DFA. I also have experience interfacing with multiple stakeholders (Industrial design, NPD) for product development.
Skilled Trades (2)
FORMULA SAE: Chassis Design, Analysis and Development 2016-17 Collaborated with 2 engineers to set targets i.e. weight reduction of the frame and increasing torsional stiffness. Remodeled the chassis and executed the FEA static structural model in Solidworks. Reduced the weight of chassis by 15 pounds and increased torsional stiffness by 800 Nm/deg. Design, development and testing of a catapult: Aug 2014- Dec 2014 Led a team of 5 engineers to design a robust, cost efficient and an accurate catapult for shooting ping pong balls. Designed for a shooting of 16 feet and utilized DFMEA, DFA to reduce the assembly time by 9 minutes. Successfully accomplished the target accuracy of 95% with a paltry budget of $22. FORMULA SAE: (Engine Intake Design) 2015-16 Designed and developed the 20 mm venturi air restrictor for the FSAE racecar. Modeled 5 different prototypes with different converging and diverging angles to establish a pattern of fluid flow. Optimized the design to minimize pressure losses and maximize air flow through the restrictor via CFD simulation.
Design engineering intern -Rochi engineers Pvt Ltd, Pune Area, INDIA Sep 2013 – Dec 2013 Designed and developed exhaust mufflers for small scale automotive market based clientele. Participated in customer meetings to discuss product design specifications and requirements. Collaborated with design engineers to set design targets to reduce the noise emission of the diesel engine test rig. Spearheaded a team of 4 engineers to design 3 different prototypes on Solidworks with different baffle patterns. Computed the models of the prototypes for noise reduction using CFD simulation tools in ANSYS FLUENT. Successfully reduced the noise emission of the lab test rig from 110 db to 90 db.
Software Competencies (4)
Professional Competencies (6)
Developed CAD models on Solidworks using DFM and DFA principles
Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME): Western Michigan University
Interfaced with multiple stakeholders (Industrial Design, NPD) to support product development activities.
Assisted in developing the mathematical model to predict the coefficient of friction in truck gearboxes. Utilized the experimental test data from Eaton and Lubrizol Corporation to validate the proposed approach. Conducted an extensive literature survey to set benchmarks for acceptable values of friction coefficients.
Used NPD tools viz. DMAIC, DFSS, DOE, and root cause analysis for product development. Developed quantifiable test measurement methods to isolate root causes of vibration issues in blenders.
