March 2008 - January 2013 (4 years 11 months) Arden, NC One year as a contract employee, then hired as a permanent employee. Responsible as part of a team effort, using Inventor 3D software for the mechanical and current carrying bus portions of 3 new product designs, and prototype builds of Medium Voltage Drives, Frame C up to 3500 HP, Frame D up to 4750 HP and recently finished Frame E, 750 Amp, 6000 HP with Dual PowerPole Inverters. Contacted vendors and championed the purchase of a high end workstation and CFD software with training. Designed and hand machined and assembled special components and assisted the production team in special drive builds of 8 Dual Inverter Drive units that went to Saudi Arabia. Championed the outfitting and implementation of an area for our engineering team to have space and tools to build prototype Medium Voltage Drive units. Researched, performed experiments and implemented design plan to improve airflow in the rectifier enclosure to cool components that run at high amperages. Redesigned, submitted and implemented a $250 cost saving per Dual Inverter machine. Conceptualized several high horsepower water cooled and Active Front End configurations for the sales department. Championed the creation of Animated work Instructions for new employees in the production department. Planned and organized, using MS Project, the logistics to transport and test the 6000 Hp unit at KEMA in Pennsylvania. Saved one whole day of test bay use at $10,000 per day.
