Honolulu Community College is Hawaii's premier technical training institution, offering hands-on career programs in trades and technology since 1920. The Electrical Installation and Maintenance Technology program covers residential, commercial, and industrial electrical work including motor controls, conduit bending, and NEC code compliance. The Welding Technology program provides training in SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and oxy-fuel processes with emphasis on structural and pipe welding for Hawaii's construction and maritime industries. HonCC's Automotive Technology and Diesel Mechanics programs prepare technicians for the heavy equipment used in Hawaii's construction, military, and transportation sectors. The college's Ship Repair and Marine Maintenance program is unique in the state, training technicians for Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and commercial maritime operations.
