As the Controls Engineering Technician, I worked with our Engineering Team on bringing projects to life while also aiding Maintenance in troubleshooting and keeping the production lines running. I dealt with Fanuc robots, Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLC's (depending on which area we were in) along with Keyence and Cognex vision systems. I also had the pleasure of working with Makino CNC machines and was able to learn a little about the programming language as well.

As the Controls Engineering Technician, I worked with our Engineering Team on bringing projects to life while also aiding Maintenance in troubleshooting and keeping the production lines running. I also had the pleasure of working with Makino CNC machines and was able to learn a little about the programming language as well.
I used an electric plasma torch as a Weld Destruct Technician. Job responsibilities included memorizing weld IDs on both frames and cradles, using the plasma torch to cut out sections of required welds and using a grinder and diegrinder to grind and polish the coupons for etching in the Weld Lab.
I worked in the Weld Lab as a Weld Lab Technician for two years total. I started as a 3rd shift Lab Tech and eventually got promoted to Weld Coordinator and then stepped back down to Lab Tech to move to 1st shift. Job responsibilities include knowledge of Nitric Acid/Ammonium Persulfate, using said chemicals to etch above mentioned weld coupons and take clear pictures of the welds under a microscope and deciding whether each weld is a pass or a failure. All weld concerns are measured using the Paxit software where each aspect of the weld is measured individually and then a report is run to track whether each weld is passing or failing based on Weld Specifications for that program. All info is communicated with Assembly by email to ensure the quality of our welds. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word and Power Point are necessary to perform all job duties as well as neatness and organization
