Most places stop at listing it
Think about what usually happens when you post a role. It goes into a list. If you want it seen, you buy a promoted slot, a featured upgrade, a refresh. Reach is the product being sold back to you, and the listing itself is just the hook.
That model has an assumption underneath it that does not hold in this trade: that the right person is out there searching. For specialist industrial work they usually are not. They are employed, busy, and not reading job listings this week.
What we do instead
When a contract is posted on Automate America, it gets treated as something to be advertised, not filed.
It is written up properly, in language a working engineer recognises rather than requisition boilerplate. Images are produced for it. It goes out by email to the professional network. It is posted across our social channels. It is scripted for video where that fits. And it is written into search-optimised articles — this one being a working example of exactly that.
The customer pays nothing for any of it. There is no promoted tier, because promotion is not a product we sell you. It is how the marketplace works.
Why we do it that way
Partly self-interest, and it is worth being honest about it: a contract that fills quickly makes the marketplace worth using, and one that sits there does not. Our incentive is genuinely aligned with yours.
But mostly it is because of who we are trying to reach. The best-matched professional for a narrow scope is very often employed at one of the service companies in this network, with a gap in their schedule this month. Nothing about a passive listing reaches that person. Email, social, video and search do.
What the customer actually has to do
Post the work and set your rate. That is the whole of it.
You do not write the advert. You do not produce images. You do not schedule social posts or work out which channels matter. And you are not asked to build an employer brand for a six-week commissioning contract, which would be an absurd thing to expect of a plant that just needs a cell running.
The quiet benefit
There is a second effect that customers notice later. The work you post gets seen by professionals who were not looking for a job at all — and some of them remember you. A plant that posts interesting work in this network becomes somewhere people want to work, without spending a cent on employer branding.
Where to start
Post your work, free, at the rate you want to pay, and we will take it from there. If you want to see the standard first, look at what is open right now.
More from us: what it actually costs to find one engineer.
