Work Experience(6)
Implemented an MES system for a closely coupled automation project at Proterra's Battery Module Line, developing PLC logic to customer specifications and designing a plant floor GUI using Ignition's Perspective module. Provided commissioning support for materials handling systems for Matthews Automation and Skechers, greatly expanding conveyor systems and upgrading DeviceNet networks to Ethernet/IP. Played a pivotal role at Grob Systems USA / General Motors in setting up their 7th generation HD engine block manufacturing facility, integrating PLC/HMI components from Siemens Automation, robotics from Fanuc, and vision systems by Cognex.
Led the design, programming, and commissioning of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems for industrial automation projects across various sectors. Developed and optimized control strategies using Rockwell, Siemens, and Schneider Electric platforms to enhance system reliability and efficiency. Collaborated with clients to assess automation needs, design tailored solutions and provide ongoing support for system integration and troubleshooting. Mentored junior engineers, fostering skill development and adherence to industry standards in control system design and deployment.
Analyzed, maintained, and developed distinct SCADA systems for water distribution, sewerage, and wastewater treatment, involving installation, maintenance, and repair of both wired and wireless communication networks, industrial controls, and SCADA systems. Led a district-wide migration of SCADA systems to new contemporary software, enabling the upgrade of legacy automation controllers and the implementation of a new OT network architecture, significantly streamlining system maintenance. Transitioned from serial to IP radios across over 70 remote sites, developing security measures to align with Department of Homeland Security recommendations and industry standards for enhanced system security and compliance.
Spearheaded the development and iteration of field and factory systems for a start-up OEM in the underground pipe remediation sector. Managed the full lifecycle of system development from design to testing, using Siemens S7-1500 PLC/HMI hardware and TIA Portal software. Leveraged CAD software applications to create 3-D models of equipment designs, ensuring client approval and buy-in prior to production. This approach streamlined project execution, reduced costs, and significantly enhanced client satisfaction and delivery timelines.
Installed, configured, and supported power monitoring systems, focusing on software solutions, and networking architecture to optimize energy management. Directed a team in the successful rollout of campus-wide electrical smart metering systems at CSU San Bernardino & Fullerton, demonstrating a strong command of project management and technical proficiency. Acted as the Technical Lead for global US military base smart metering systems, managing subcontractors and overseeing the implementations at numerous datacenter facilities, including GoDaddy, and at Idaho National Labs.
Took part in PLC and HMI upgrades, enhancing reliability and streamlining operations in southern Idaho whey drying and cheese processing facilities. Modernized dairy processing at the California Institution for Men by transitioning to automated controls. Optimized productivity at Hollandia Dairy with Wonderware HMI software, improving user interface simplicity
