Have integrated over 100 ABB Robots with MIG Welding or Material Handling applications. Experience doing everything from robot start-up, to initial setup, Safemove, I/O Configuration, Auto Debug, Weld develpment, and cycle time reduction, as well as commissioning at the customer facility after setting up the machine at our shop.
Highly skilled Fanuc programmer with a niche in MIG Welding, Spot Welding and Projection Welding Applications. Also exposed to Sealer / Dispense systems, vision and material handling applications. Experienced with EtherNet and Profinet communication protocal. Have worked on several projects with Fanucs where everything was my responsibility on the robot side from robot power-up, initial setup, DCS, I/O configuration, auto debug, weld development and then commissioning at the customer facility.
Worked on integrating Kuka robots with several applications including: -Spot Welding (Kuka SpotTech) -Sealer / Dispense systems -Palletizing / Stacking / Material Handling -External Kinematic Systems (robots on linear rails, turntables, trunnions and turning rolls) -GMAW Mig Welding - in automotive and heavy duty applications (mine buckets, locomotive, oil tankers). Heavy duty welding applications had were required to conform to AWS and ASME IX. Experienced with Kuka's Multi-layer welding add-on software. -Experienced with Kuka Seam Tracking and Adaptive Welding -Laser Welding Inspection Have experience leading a team of professionals on integration projects from start to end, including: initial start-up procedures including establishing communcations, TCP and Work Object setups, payloads, I/O configurations, programming and teaching, Auto Debug, weld development, cycle time reduction and commissioning.
Integrated and setup camera to detect if projected weld nuts were on the part or not. Experimented with limit adjustments, the window method and OK/NG methods to achieve this. I also used the CV-X 3D laser scanners to detect the heights of the nut on the part. Finally, I have used the LR-Z Sensors to detect for brackets present and not present., with a difference in stack up of only 2mm.
This laser is used for Weld Joint Finding, Seam Tracking, Adaptive Welding and Inspection of Weld Defects. Experienced in all 4 of these applications in conjunction with a Kuka KRC4 or KRC5 Robot
About Me
Controls Engineering Technician for 4 years at Centerline LTD, 1 year as Lead Robot Tech at Mytox Manufacturing, a division of Magna Exteriors. And 1 year at a start up integrator where I wore many hats, including all the robotic programming and robot simulations.
Strong knowledge of Fanuc, ABB and Kuka robots. And moderate experience with Motoman and Panasonic robots.
High expertise in MIG and Spot Welding, including Adaptive Welding with Kuka Robots. Experienced in laser seam tracking applications.
As a graduate of a Weld Engineering Technology program, and therefore am also highly skilled at robotic MIG welding, spot welding and projection welding applications.
Skilled Trades (3)
Strong experience with MIG, Spot and Projection Welding applications. Have done MIG welding on ABB, Fanuc, Kuka, Panasonic and Motoman. SPOT welding experience with Fanuc and Kuka.
Took a lead role in weld development of several T1XX parts from 2017-2019, inclduing: The Lower Control Arm (GMAW), RAD support (Spot Welding), and the cross car beam(GMAW). The cross-car beam was particularly challenging as it was a thick tube with 300 welds under 10mm to very thin brackets.
Worked in the Maintenance department for over a year with Magna Exteriors. Specifically my managers tasked me with lowering scrap %, reducing cycle times and introducing new ways to prevent quality rejects.
Professional Competencies (6)
Successfully completed the commission of many robotic welding cells
Developed one of the first ever programs for automating rail cars using Seam Tracking, Adaptive Welding with Multilayer Welding done to AWS and ASME IX code. Used the laser to also scan and inspect for weld defects. Specifically, this program was used with a Servo-Robot Laser and a Kuka KRC5 robot.
Strong robot welding experience with Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, Motoman and Panasonic robots
Experience with Process Simulate and Kuka SIM for offline path programming.
Was the leader on a few smaller projects up to 20 robots. Was in charge of making sure the project standard was consistent and the timelines were met, and was in charge of managing the human resources for robot techs.
Worked in the maintenance department at Magna for 1 year after 4 years as a Contols Technician at Centerline. At Magna I was able to take a automated riveting process that I knew nothing about and troubleshoot the problems and implement solutions, and within a month was able to make the machine run at rate for 24 hours straight.
Applications (7)
Have 4 years experience integrating custom robotic automation cells from machine power up all the way to commissioning at the customer facility including weld development and achieving cycle time.
