Professional Competencies (4)
Combining an engineering mindset with strong leadership qualities has been a defining strength in my career. Despite my relatively short professional experience, my leadership abilities have positioned me to train and mentor teams effectively. I successfully trained a team of six professionals on Broderson RTU programming and HMI design while simultaneously guiding fresh graduate interns—all while managing my in-house tasks and coordinating with international clients. In my current role, I am leading a team of two engineers in the SCADA system design for Saudi Arabia-based water treatment plants. Balancing multiple responsibilities has honed my ability to manage time efficiently, ensuring seamless project supervision, timely updates, and strict adherence to deadlines. With a proven track record of guiding teams to success, I am confident in my ability to drive projects forward, foster team growth, and lead high-performing teams toward successful project completion.
I am proficient in PLC programming, with expertise in Ladder Logic, Function Blocks, and Structured Text (SCL/STL). I have a strong grasp of translating complex control philosophies into efficient logic, implementing NO/NC instructions, function blocks, and seamlessly integrating Modbus, OPC, and Profibus protocols for industrial automation. My experience spans Siemens S7-1500, S7-1200, Honeywell RTU2020, Maple Systems, and Broderson RTUs, where I have engineered robust and optimized control solutions. My expertise is demonstrated in projects like the Leak Detection System, where I engineered a Honeywell RTU2020-based data aggregation station for a sour gas pipeline. The RTU collected real-time field data and transmitted it to Atmos LDS, ensuring precise leak detection through advanced mathematical analysis. Similarly, for a water treatment plant, I developed a redundant Siemens S7-1500 PLC-based automation system with a WinCC RT Advanced HMI, efficiently collecting data from pressure transmitters, analyzers, and flow computers while providing operators with an ISA-101-compliant, high-performance interface equipped with security, totalizers, converters, and real-time calculations. Additionally, I have designed environment monitoring systems for hospital ICU units, remote data collection stations on Broderson RTU 32M, and compact automation solutions using Moxa IoLogik2500 RTUs, showcasing my ability to handle both large-scale and specialized industrial automation projects.
As an engineer, I have a strong ability to dive deep into complex engineering concepts, exploring new perspectives and advancing scientific methodologies. I have contributed to multiple high-level research programs at the organizational level, including a significant international project on leak detection methodologies for a sour gas pipeline in Iran. During this research, I extensively explored algorithms such as Sequential Probability Ratio Test (SPRT), Real-Time Transient Modeling (RTTM), Compensated Volume Balance (CVB), and Extended Real-Time Transient Modeling (E-RTTM). My findings were compiled into a comprehensive research report, which played a crucial role in the organization's decision to implement the SPRT method—proving to be the most effective solution for the project. Currently, I am collaborating with an Algerian-based student, sponsored by Schneider Electric, to provide scientific support in further advancements of leak detection systems. In addition to these contributions, I am actively researching the integration of AI and ML concepts into industrial automation, leveraging the vast amounts of data generated in plant processes. My research aims to enhance operational efficiency, predictive maintenance, and intelligent decision-making in modern industrial environments.
I have extensive experience in SCADA system design, primarily on Siemens platforms, including TIA WinCC RT Professional and WinCC V8.1. I have successfully designed and implemented SCADA systems for various water treatment plants, such as RO Water Plants, SP, and TSE Plants, with I/O counts ranging from 200 to 2000. My expertise extends beyond static graphic design to advanced functionalities like faceplates, alarm configuration with priority levels, and optimized screen hierarchy to enhance operator efficiency with minimal navigation effort. Additionally, I have a strong command of industrial communication protocols, including Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, and OPC, ensuring seamless data exchange between field devices and SCADA systems. Security in SCADA is a key focus of my work, where I implement best practices to safeguard systems against potential threats. My designs prioritize operational reliability, user-friendly interfaces, and structured workflows to enable smooth plant operations.
