PLC Programmer – Siemens Controls | Automotive Assembly & New Line Integration
We are seeking experienced PLC Programmers with deep Siemens controls expertise to support new assembly line installations and equipment integration within our automotive manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate has a proven track record commissioning complex automated systems in a high-volume automotive environment and can operate independently from kickoff through production runoff.
The candidates must be proficient in Siemens TIA Portal (S7-1200/1500 series), with working knowledge of PROFINET/PROFIBUS networking, Siemens HMI platforms (Comfort/Unified panels), and drive integration (SINAMICS). Familiarity with safety-rated systems (SIRIUS, F-CPU) and robot interfacing (KUKA, Fanuc, or ABB via PLC) is strongly preferred. Experience reading and interpreting automotive-grade electrical schematics and functional design specs is required.
This role is project-oriented — candidates must be comfortable working directly with OEM equipment vendors, controls engineers, and plant maintenance teams through all phases: FAT, site delivery, mechanical and electrical installation support, SAT, and line runoff. Travel to domestic and international plant sites is expected.
Key responsibilities: Siemens PLC program development, modification, and version control; field commissioning and startup of new assembly lines; integration of vision systems, end-of-line testers, and conveyor/transfer systems; network configuration and diagnostics; punch list resolution and as-built documentation.
Requirements: 5+ years of Siemens PLC programming experience in an automotive or tier-1 supplier environment; proficiency in TIA Portal and Step 7; strong understanding of automotive line control architectures (body shop, general assembly, or powertrain preferred); ability to work independently on-site with minimal direction.
This will be a 6 month job with 40+ hrs/week
